Dubai Airports last week launched a smartwatch app for both iOS and Android platforms.
Developed in conjunction with Netherlands-based firm M2Mobi, it links to the airport’s existing smartphone app and currently offers information on flight status, actual arrival or departure times, as well as which terminal, gate or baggage belt to use.
A second phase is expected to feature commercial offers from food & beverage and retail outlets, as well as enhanced interactivity and additional functionality.
Dubai Airports Head of Digital Media Matthew Horobin said: “This development is part of an ongoing series of digital initiatives at Dubai Airports that are aimed at enabling easy access to personalised information that allows our customers greater freedom to plan their journey and make the most of their time at the airport.
“It’s a service that will find appreciation among the increasing number of travellers that are now smartphone and smartwatch users,” Horobin added.
